Sun down rowing

Big windy clouds

Dark impressive clouds but no rain thankfully but created lots of wind down the sound of mull yesterday. After what seems most of trip so far we have had the wind on our nose, no wind or to much. Hummm. And a cert young female of the crew has for no reason we can understand, become scared of the sails going up and the boat tipping. Not sure what i have done wrong or what has happened, to change her mind. After lots of reassurance we have negotiated to sail little and often with an agreement that it is to improve. I have given the children responsability to passage plan now and they seem much engaged with this and getting it more or less worked out correctly, although it takes a long time to find a consensus.

How to have the most fun ever

Going off in a few days on our annual sailing cruise round the west coast of scotland, and, it has been suggested that our little rowing sailing tender giggle is a little under powered and under sized for our growing family to get ashore safely while at anchor in less favorable situations. The challenge, or brief, acquire new tender with out the use of an outboard, (dont like them), with sliding seat rowing and sails, that can be shipped on deck if marina or canel visit is required, oh, and not spend a great deal of money. Having started designing something from scratch, the family river canoe presented itself as a suitable hull for what i had in mind, the rest, a little inspiration from angusrowboats and well i just used my imagination! But can we get it finished before we had planned to go away.

Rowing box to be dry fitted.
