'Chortle' is our family sailing boat since 2016. She is a Sadler 29, with bilge keels, twin skinned and polyurethane filled hull (apparently unsinkable) and was built in 1984. She has received considerable amounts of work in her refurbishment from dad and we now enjoy taking most of our holidays on her in the waters of the west coast of scotland.

Motor sailing
Motor sailing down the sound of bute to our winter birth at Ardrossen. A little sullun at the idea we may well part with chortle soon. One last trip with the children next week and parhaps another before the winter haul out servicing and then for sale. We have had a lovely time with chortle safe and comfortable, but the family adventure horizons have widened and other alternative adventures await. I console myself that we may well return to sailing our own boat in a few years mean while i will enjoy sailing as a volenteer with the ocean youth trust scotland. Hopefully they survive the covid lock downs and there sailing program resumes next year.

Reflections
Reflecting on our summer cruise this year, it has over all been a great success, we have all had magic moments sometime specific to individuals but also together, like witnessing Hilarious carry 5 children under sail at up to 5.5 knots down the length of Loch Sunart.
